Element and Bristol University agree partnership for seismic testing

Element and Bristol University agree partnership for seismic testing

The new agreement brings guaranteed access to BEELAB’s seismic simulation equipment which when coupled with Element’s engaged experts, offers a unique range of testing and certification for markets including nuclear and failure critical environments. Complementing the University’s long-established reputation for engaging with industry, the agreement allows for new relationships with knowledge-users to be forged and existing relationships to be strengthened.

The launch of the agreement means that lead times for Element customers are reduced as access to equipment is guaranteed, bringing greater efficiency. The partnership will also offer an internship with the opportunity to work alongside the experts at the University of Bristol and Element, both within the seismic qualification facility, and at Element’s Warwick laboratory, learning about the application of testing within the commercial environment.

Matt Hopkinson, EVP at Element, commented: “Our team of engaged experts has worked with Bristol University’s seismic qualification facility for some time and we have seen considerable mutual benefit. This agreement aligns state of the art equipment and academic excellence with our own experts and brings guaranteed response times to the market as well as formalised collaboration.

“Element is experiencing a growth in the market for failure critical environment testing and with nuclear development certification requirements, access to the earthquake engineering and structural dynamics testing widens our capacity and capability.” Element’s environmental testing can simulate a wide variety of conditions to help determine product reliability, and areas of technical expertise include environmental testing, vibration & shock testing, engineering simulation, advisory services and seismic testing. Partners include aerospace, military, transportation, energy and industrial manufacturers needing to ensure their product is compliant with either industry-specific standards or in-service conditions.
