NAFEMS Statement on COVID-19: Your Community - Our Action Plan

Dear Colleagues,

As the world responds to the growing COVID-19 pandemic, NAFEMS has decided that all of our near-term face-to-face training courses and events such as Regional Conferences during the next several months will be either postponed or transferred to a web-based platform. We will be in touch to explain our plans for those events as well as any events for which you were registered to attend or to speak.

We’re a community and you are a part of that community. Now more than ever it’s important that we work together and support one another. With your help, we’ll find new creative ways to do that, building upon our experience of bringing together colleagues from around the globe in a variety of different ways.

Our technical working groups and regional steering committees will continue to meet online as usual. The online Resource Centre and our programme of live eLearning classes will also continue to be available; we will do our utmost to increase what is available as quickly as we can.

We have been developing a new type of online learning platform which will be a free resource for members. This was scheduled to be launched later this year; however, we’re now planning to make aspects of it available to members in the near future.

We’ll be working with our network of volunteers to help us host a new generation of “active participation” online meetings and “town hall” style virtual gatherings. Our aim is to continue delivering our services for members and clients to the highest standards throughout this challenging period by utilizing new communication and collaboration options as appropriate. If you have any more ideas that you’d like us to investigate, please just send us an email.

Finally, thank you for being a member of NAFEMS. We’re all looking forward to a time when this situation has improved so that we can once again get together in person for meetings and conferences, enjoy each other’s company and share our experiences with one another.
