Bill Mair

It is with great sadness that we announce news of the passing of Dr William "Bill" Mair, former Chief Executive of NAFEMS and respected figure in the FE community.

Bill lost his long battle with illness on the morning of August 9th, and his funeral took place on August 12th in Lanarkshire.

Dr Mair was one of the founding members of NAFEMS at the National Engineering Laboratory in East Kilbride, and held the role of Chief Executive for a number of years. Bill inspired many colleagues to "get involved" with NAFEMS and the general issues surrounding finite element methods and standards, and will be fondly remembered by many current members.

NAFEMS would like to take this opportunity to send our condolences to Bills family on behalf of NAFEMS staff, all of our members, and the FE community in general.
