The one-day seminar on Integrated Open CAD/CAE Platforms for
Mechanical Engineering, on September 28th 2005 at ESTEC, Noordwijk,
The Netherlands, attracted more than 80 participants who showed
great interest to learn and discuss the latest trends and
developments in the integration of computer aided design and
analysis for mechanical engineering.
The event was attended by the major CAD/CAE tool developers serving European industry who presented their strategies and product capabilities.
The seminar was jointly organised by ESA’s Mechanical Engineering Department (D/TEC-M) and NAFEMS.
“The user community is looking for effective tools available at affordable cost” said Dr. C. Stavrinidis, head of ESA’s Mechanical Engineering Department and current Chairman of NAFEMS, in his opening speech. “Finding answers to this challenge will allow us to improve further the engineering processes and their level of integration. In turn, this will translate into cheaper space systems and services for Europe’s citizens.”
