UK Conference 2010 - Call for Presentations

In today’s uncertain economic climate, companies are continually looking towards the design and manufacturing process as a way of increasing efficiency and contributing to the bottom line. Recent research shows that best-in-class companies make the greatest use of simulation technology – an important consideration when competitiveness is vital in a turbulent marketplace.

Following on from the outstanding success of the previous conference held in 2008, the NAFEMS UK Conference 2010 will be the country’s premier conference on Simulation Technology for the Engineering Analysis Community. This event will bring together leading industrial practitioners, consultancies, academic researchers and software developers with a common interest in engineering analysis.

Once again, this two day conference will cover the current best practices and state-of-the-art in FEA, CFD and associated technologies, providing attendees with the most comprehensive overview of the technology available. In addition to the informative main conference sessions, this time the conference will be further enhanced by activities hosted by a number of the NAFEMS Working Groups. Further details of Workshops, Clinics and Master Classes will be announced in due course.

The conference aims to increase awareness and provide a discussion forum for topics that are important and relevant to engineering industrialists and academics. NAFEMS is acutely aware that the current economic climate places as even greater focus on the business benefit that simulation can bring to industry. In response to this, the conference will endeavour to highlight the economic benefits associated with simulation

Being held at the Oxford Belfry Hotel in the heart of England, the NAFEMS UK Conference 2010 is readily accessible from the across the UK, as well as mainland Europe.

Call for Presentations 

Presentations are sought which will provide case studies illustrating the effective use of simulation for a particular application. Presentations from all areas of simulation can be submitted and will be considered for acceptance. However preference will be given to contributions which highlight one or more of the themes given below. The main conference themes will be:

Innovative Simulation Application and Technology
Simulation Driven Design
Engineering Analysis, Verification and Validation

In the first instance, abstracts of 300-600 words should be submitted for consideration by 8th January 2010. Abstracts must be clearly marked with presentation title, author's name, organisation, address, fax, phone numbers and email address. E-mail your abstract to uk2010@nafems.org .

Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be asked to prepare an extended abstract (typically 2-4 pages) and a PowerPoint presentation. Full written papers will not be required.

Who Should Attend?

The conference will be of interest to all analysts, engineers, team leaders and managers that have a responsibility for ensuring that a fit-for-purpose engineering solution is obtained from the use of modern simulation software. Those involved with the manufacturing and design process at any level will benefit from attendance.

The event is open to both members and non-members of NAFEMS.

Attendance is free for NAFEMS members, subject to sufficient remaining seminar credits.
