Assembly Simulation Focus Team

Assembly Simulation Focus Team

The MANWG Assembly Process Simulation Focus Group was set up in 2024 and aims to:

  • Identifying Assembly Issues which can be solved through physics-based simulation.
  • Develop methods for simulating the Assembly Processes.
  • Research and develop new physics-based approaches for Assembly Processes.
  • Develop and establish standards related to Assembly Process Simulation. These aims will be achieved through the following activities: Short Term
  • Create awareness and promote the need of Assembly Process Simulation.
  • Encourage membership in Assembly Focus Group.

Mid-Term

  • Benchmark industry practices involved in Assembly of Parts.
  • Discuss and Review assembly issues leading to product failures, production issues and evaluate use cases for simulation.

Long Term / Ongoing

  • Identify potential applications for Assembly Process Simulation.
  • Develop Benefit Model and Value Prop

Processes considered by the Focus Team include Lifting, Handling, Assembly, Tighten, Torque, Align, Test, Disassemble, Removal, Sub assembly, Main Assembly, Hydraulics Assembly, Electrical Assembly, Powertrain Assembly.
