The Modelica Association Standards are all under active development. This presentation will give a high-level overview over new developments in existing standards, new standards such as eFMI, and ongoing work in European Research Projects. In the summer of 2023, The Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) 3.0 has been released with major new features for virtual ECUs, the concept of “layered standards” for easy integration with standards from other organizations, and many new features to allow high-quality co-simulation of many models. eFMI, or FMI for embedded systems is currently in public alpha testing, and several tools have implemented support for the current draft standard. The System Simulation and Parameterization Standard (SSP) is planning to release its version 2.0 in H1 2024, and also introduces the concept of “layered standards”. For example, the SSP Traceability Specification enables to track model maturity and validation status and MBD development progress in standardized artifacts, enabling a cross-tool and cross-vendor digital thread for Model Based Systems Engineering.
