Reliability of Composite Structures Under Cyclic Loading

Reliability of Composite Structures Under Cyclic Loading

Tuesday, 13 May 2025 | Online

17:00 (Berlin) | 16:00 (London)
08:00 (Los Angeles) | 11:00 (New York)

This webinar will provide an overview on the reliability of composite structures under cyclic loading. The focus will be on key aspects such as understanding fatigue damage mechanisms in composites and strategies for design , to ensure optimal performances and safety under in-service conditions. Additionally, the session will briefly introduce methods and tools for structural health monitoring, aimed at early damage detection and long-term integrity assessment. Real-world applications will also be presented to illustrate these concepts in practice. Eventually the content of an advance training course will be briefly presented.

The webinar will cover the following topics:

  • brief introduction to damage mechanics of composites under fatigue
  • design strategies and tools for preliminary and advanced design
  • examples of applications

About our presenter

Professore Marino Quaresimin

Università di Padova | Editor-in-Chief Composites Science and Technology

Marino Quaresimin is full Professor of Machine Design at the Department of Management and Engineering at University of Padova where he teaches Mechanics of Materials and Design of Composite Structures at the Undergraduate and Master course in Mechanical Engineering. His research interests are on polymeric composites, with particular reference to the study of the structural response and the damage mechanics and the development of predictive models. Understanding and description of the behaviour of composite materials and structures under cyclic (fatigue) loading are of actual interest as well as modelling of the toughening mechanisms and multifunctional response in composites. He is also interested in bonded connections and in the development and optimisation of composite structures.
He is author of more than 450 scientific publications, with contributions in high impact journals, books and conferences. He is the Editor in Chief of Composites Science and Technology and he was the president of the European Society for Composite Materials. He has been invited to the scientific committee/advisory board of more than 70 international conferences and he coordinated several scientific and industrial research projects at national and international level
