Sustainability’. A curious term in most instances. When it comes to the art and business of designing, engineering and producing a physical object, then it becomes even more curious. If we try to find a sensible definition, a good place to start is amongst those that have devoted themselves to working in the field of sustainable design. One definition I particularly like comes from sustainable design guru, Leyla Acaroglu, who defines it as “the approach to creating products and services that have considered the environmental, social, and economic impacts from the initial phase through to the end of life.”
