Detergent dispensing in washing machines is a very critical step that determines wash quality of the clothes. This article looks at a study aimed at preventing detergent clogging in the dispenser and what an optimized dispenser design might look like. The idea behind this simulation fidelity enhancement study is to optimize the design early in the design cycle using CFD simulation software such as Ansys Fluent, and avoid dispenser clogging. This is done by determining the amount of water required to completely dispense the detergent using CFD simulation and then correlating the same with physical testing.
