The prevention of corrosion processes is an essential part in the development of products. Unfortunately, due to the variety of physical processes involved, the prediction of corrosion processes is a difficult task and therefore experimental test procedures are still the method of choice for corrosion testing. Besides the costs of the experimental test, which sometimes takes several weeks in climate chambers, the fact that “real” parts must be tested means experimental testing is unsuitable for virtual product development.
