Manufacturing Process Simulation Knowledge Base
This dataset aims to provide a comprehensive list of publications containing experimental data that can be used for the validation of thermo-mechanical finite element models for welding simulations. The data includes publications on arc welding, laser welding, electron beam welding, and friction stir welding (FSW).
The main focus of the dataset is to support validation activities for residual stress predictions, offering publications that report experimental data using different measurement techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), contour method, neutron diffraction (ND), hole drilling (HD), and block removal, splitting, and layering (BRSL). To that end, the list highlights the availability of key input information such as weld procedures and parameters, clamping conditions, macrographs, and thermocouple measurements, which are essential for the implementation of a welding model.
For each publication, a summary of the main experimental data is provided, making it easier to browse and identify the most suitable publication when searching for a benchmark to validate welding models. The information can be filtered by parameters such as welding process, joint preparation, materials, weld procedure, as well as the availability of temperature, residual stress, and distortion measurements.
The dataset was compiled through a literature review, focusing on identifying the most relevant publications that could serve as benchmarks for welding simulation validation. This collection of data also aims to promote consistency in validation practices across the field by offering a structured and accessible source of experimental data that helps streamline the validation process.
