This course is intended to assist anyone involved in the design and manufacture of sheet metal components–from product design through to tooling engineering– to identify the material modelling, characterization, testing, and data required to carry out successful simulation of sheet metal forming processes.
The objective is to help the engineer gain a better appreciation of, and more confidently select, the correct options to achieve accurate and reliable simulation results. To do this we will examine some of the science behind the input requirements for simulation, noting that the quality of the output is only as good as the quality of the input data.
You can expect to come away with an understanding of how Computer-Aided Engineering methods can be applied to the analysis of sheet metal part manufacture to identify potential problems and establish if process, tool, or part design changes are required.
Trevor graduated from Durham University in 1986 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Engineering Science. He has worked in the field of non-linear finite element analysis since graduating, and from the early 90’s developed considerable experience in the simulation of sheet metal forming processes.
