This paper on "Simulation Studies of Wax Injection for Investment Casting Patterns" was presented at the NAFEMS World Congress on The Evolution of Product Simulation From Established Methods to Virtual Testing & Prototyping - 24-28 April 2001, The Grand Hotel, Lake Como, Italy.
The research programme "Fundamentals of Investment Casting" (FOCAST) has been funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council in UK at the Net Shape Laboratory of the IRC in the University of Birmingham. This paper presents some initial results from the research in the areas modelling of wax injection.
Firstly, the different models used to describe the behaviour of the wax are presented. Then, the experimental work carried out in order to validate these models is presented. Finally, the simulation results are compared with the experimental results.
