This paper on "Vibrate-Acoustic Analysis of a Musical Instrument: Guitar" was presented at the NAFEMS World Congress on The Evolution of Product Simulation From Established Methods to Virtual Testing & Prototyping - 24-28 April 2001, The Grand Hotel, Lake Como, Italy.
This article presents the modelation, and analysis of a musical instrument, in particular that of a guitar with the purpose of determining the existent relationship between its dynamic behavior and its acoustic answer.
The study included the virtual simulation of a series of guitars to realize a dynamic analysis (modal analysis), and its respective acoustic analysis, measured by the Level of Acoustic Intensity. Of the obtained results, we intend an equation that relates the vibration frequency and the acoustic level of intensity of the guitar. Based on this, it is tried to optimize the design of the instrument without losing their sound quality.
