Summary

Three sets of benchmark tests specific to nonlinear analysis have been published by NAFEMS. These cover elasto-plastic material behaviour 11], solution procedures for geometric nonlinearity 12] and geometrically nonlinear beams and axisymmetric shells [3]. The following aspects of these tests are reported here: educational content: clarity of definition of the tests and target values: resources required to carry out the tests: comparison of ASAS-NL results with target values, and suitability of the tests as benchmarks.
