This paper on "Parallel Finite Elements Methods" was presented at the 3rd International Conference on Quality Assurance and Standards in Finite Element Analysis - 10-12 September 1991, Stratford-upon-Avon, England.
Massively parallel MIMD computers and their software environments are mature enough to enter the finite element market. This paper has the intention of introducing parallel technology to finite element experts. Parallel architectures and general programming techniques are discussed. Chapter 4 considers the basic parallelization techniques for F.E.M.-programs. Porting commercially successful F.E.M.-packages to massively parallel MIMD machines will really cause a break-through in building extremely powerful dedicated F.E.-machines.
