An Implementation of Automatic Finite Element Mesh Generation Based on Domain Triangulation

This paper on "An Implementation of Automatic Finite Element Mesh Generation Based on Domain Triangulation" was presented at the 3rd International Conference on Quality Assurance and Standards in Finite Element Analysis - 10-12 September 1991, Stratford-upon-Avon, England.

Abstract

A robust technique for generation automatic finite element meshes from solid models is described. The algorithm, based on domain triangulation, uses an "active front" that is defined on the domain boundary, namely, line segments in case of surface meshing, and triangular faces in case of solid meshing. In the process of triangulation the active front collapses on Itself, and thereby ensures that the domain to be meshed is completely filled.
