This paper on "Integrated Environment for Preparation of Large Models for FEM Analysis" was presented at the NAFEMS World Congress on Design, Simulation & Optimisation: Reliability & Applicability of Computational Methods - 9-11 April 1997, Stuttgart, Germany.
In the present work we present an integrated system for preparation and fast modifications of large models destined for FEM based calculations. The main goal is to enable feedback between geometrical (CAD) models and associated FEM models. It is achieved by introducing conception hierarchy into parametrized geometry, operating on non-conforming FEM models and automatic resolving interconnections between them, when corresponding CAD geometry is modified. The system is designed as an extension to I-DEAS Master Series CAD software, and it addresses to designers that perform conceptual design studies.
