This paper on "FEM Software Package LIRA-W for Structural Design" was presented at the NAFEMS World Congress on Design, Simulation & Optimisation: Reliability & Applicability of Computational Methods - 9-11 April 1997, Stuttgart, Germany.
The programme complex LIRA-W (LIRA-WINDOWS) [1] for personal computers IBM-PC 386/486/Pentium based on linear and non-linear applications of finite elements method is presented in the paper. The theoretical basis of LIRA -W are the method of finite elements (FEM) and the method of super elements (SEM), which allow to solve efficiently the complicated tasks of buildings and constructions calculations, taking into account static and dynamic actions, among them the earth surface displacement.
System LIRA-W was applied in design of complex structures in Ukraine, Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union. We also had some experiences in Poland, France and USA.
