Resource Abstract
This paper deals with the problem of generating realistic textile geometries for weaves and non-crimp fabrics (NCF) used in fibre reinforced composites.
The method uses the open source software TexGen, a mesh pre-processor and a FE-solver. A python-based framework is developed to generate, store and transfer information between the different software through the different steps in the proposed method.
In this paper the methodology is outlined, and the Python framework is explained in more detail. Two case studies are presented to illustrate the potential of the proposed method and Python framework.
